A wearable bottle jar filled with sand and vibrant ocean plastics gathered from along the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland, with a sea turtle charm on a 50cm silver-coloured chain.
This idea originally arose from a regular beachcombing outing. While being faced with the unignorable sight of countless pieces of plastic waste strewn around the high tide line of a beautiful west coast beach in Ireland an idea came to me.
In what almost seemed like an in vain attempt I collected what I could and later, I decided to craft something worthy of a conversation. This is what I wish to achieve, a conversation. With conversation comes awareness, and with awareness comes action. Imagine if we all collected just a few pieces of trash on every walk, think of the impact.
The statistics for ocean plastics are gruelling and overwhelming, and as a problem, it seems un-combatable, but this is simply not true and most change starts small. This is my micro stab at it.
For every Ocean’s friend order, we fund the removal of 4 kg of plastic from our waterways globally. This is the equivalent of approximately 200 plastic bottles for every single purchase meaning the impact starts before the conversation about what more we can do even begins.
Please note that this bottle is sealed shut and doesn’t open for safety (to prevent any possibility of the glass portion falling during wear)
